It’s possible to swap the hard disk in a Sky+ for a bigger model to get more recording time, but it’s an unofficial upgrade which will invalidate your warranty and neither Sky nor T3 can support you if anything goes wrong.

Sky+ boxes can be quite fussy about what disks they’ll work with.

To find out what model disk your Sky+ is using, and of course to upgrade it, you’ll need to open the box.

Some Sky+ boxes use normal Philips screws, but others use screws with heads that look like stars.

After fitting the new disk you can replace the lid and connect the power lead, but wait for two minutes before pressing any buttons.
